Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ Features Prominently in 7th Annual
TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards
January 2009: An impressive number of Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH)
properties have once again received due recognition at this year’s TripAdvisor Travellers’
Choice Awards, with SLH hotels featured across a number of categ ories.
Considered to be the most prestigious of the nine award categories, the“Top 100
Best Luxury” this year featured 13 SLH hotels, of which three were ranked
in the top 20. Mykonos Grand Hotel & Resort (www.slh.com/mykonos)
in Greece was the highest ranked Small Luxury Hotels of the World property, in an
impressive 6th place overall, and was also the only Greek hotel to appear
in the top 100. Another notable inclusion was Villa Carlotta in Italy (www.slh.com/villacarlotta) ranked
13th and one of just six Italian hotels overall, which included Palazzo
Sant’Angelo sul Canal Grande (www.slh.com/santangelo)
in Venice and J.K. Place Florence (www.slh.com/jkplace).
Estalagem Quinta da Casa Branca (www.slh.com/casabranca)
in Portugal was ranked 16th overall and was also the highest ranking
P ortuguese hotel.
In addition, a number of SLH properties were either the only hotel to feature for
one particular country or were ranked top out of a number of hotels for that country.
These included The Atlantic Hotel in the Channel Islands (www.slh.com/atlantic),
Hotel Telegraaf in Estonia (www.slh.com/telegraaf),
Hotel Marrol’s in Slovakia (www.slh.com/marrols)
and Pacific Resort Aitutaki in The Cook Islands (www.slh.com/pacificresort),
all of which were the only hotels to be honoured from their respective countries.
The Oberoi Lombok (www.slh.com/oberoilombok)
received the highest ranking out of the five Indonesian hotels honoured. Similarly,
Baros Maldives (www.slh.com/baros)
was the top Maldivian property out of the three featured, while MaMaison Le Régina
(www.slh.com/leregina) was the top
ranking hotel in Poland. La Casa Que Canta (www.slh.com/casaquecanta)
was one of five hotels in Mexico to be recognised in the Top 100.

Winners of the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards are selected by millions of
travellers from around the world who have posted their reviews or opinions about
hotels on tripadvisor.com and across the web. The Awards are highly regarded by
the hotel industry as they are based on the unbiased views of “real” travellers.
